The One MusicFest...Behind the Scenes

Yesterday, I was a volunteer to be a part of the One MusicFest in downtown Atlanta. The festival included musical performances by Common, De La Soul, Geoapele, and many more. It was a "decent" turn-out from the city especially later in the day.

The festival also included an art-walk, which was something I was looking forward to. However, I expected to see more artist especially those listed on the website. I'm not sure whether that was due to them just not showing up or the fee to set-up and display work. In addition to some of the vending prices, the fee for the VIP was ridiclous. I guess someone has to make a profit. And if you have the cash, spend it.

Overall, I didn't get a chance to stay for Common. I was hungry and the chips and sodas the promoters was providing held me down temporarily. Chips and sodas are junkfood not food. I hope the organizers of this event remember that next time. Especially if they want this to be a staple event for years to come. Stop being cheap! But I had a good time just talking and networking with ATLiens. Who knows! I might be able to display something next year.

See Ya in September!
