My Creative Post...Finally!

It feels good to post something new and fresh. Especially, when a creative project is finished and I get to brag about it. Since the Christmas hoilday is around the corner, I thought I should try my hand in skateboarding. "What does Christmas has to do with skateboarding?" Absolutely nothing! (moving on) Instead of the painful trial and error of skating on a skateboard, I decided to make one. Also, I had a chance to work in PrismaColors for the first time in a while. This experience has made me appreciate the mix medium process. The board and the original art will be on sale on Etsy next week.

Next year, I going to make an effort to start merchandising my work and applying it to different types of goods. Skateboards, shirts, iPad and iPhone cases will be in the works.

Most Liked Millionaires (A good majority of the nation who likes them)

In the midst of the Wall Street protest, crappy economy and stubborn job growth, this post is to point out that all million-billionaires are not bad. There are some that actually contribute significantly to the society. Whether it is humanitarian efforts, inventions or creative arts, these individuals seem to have left there mark on world.

These are only a few, but there are some rich good samaritans among the millionaire douchebags.

The 2011 Summer Wrap-Up!

I'M BACK! This summer has been pretty hectic so please excuse my extreme negligence of posting. The summer has been filled with work, vacations, visiting relatives and lots of sun. First, I was work as counselor at a day camp and it was a great experience. Of course, the children were hilarious and the experience allowed me to have fun and meet great people. I did have a lot of fun everyday, but after work I was very exhausted. Originally, I had planned to to work on my Art on the Belt line project after work. Now that I look back on it, I realized that wouldn't have worked out so well. Things just happen for a reason.

I did manage to go the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. The heat temperature down there is ridiculous. Atlanta simply cannot compete. We still had lots of fun. It is very easy to get wasted in the "Big Easy". Of course, alcohol is a dehydrating drug and it doesn't help that the size of the drinks are enormous.

Overall, this summer involved lots of fun and less art. Maybe a break was needed. I did manage to sketch out some stuff, but nothing really heavy. In my opinion, you cant just draw 14 hrs a day. You need some time to breathe, gather inspiration, or just to relax with some friends. You can drive yourself crazy just thinking about art and how the art world perceives you as an artist. Yes, I love being an Illustrator, but I'm going to try to take a break from it every once in awhile. It feels good.

Zombie Apocalypse Now! or May 21,2011

Honestly, the CDC was too late in preparation for this kind of emergency. Shaun of The Dead, Resident Evil movies and games, Plants vs. Zombies, and Zombieland has taught us too well on how to survive a hoard of flesh eating zombies.

But there hasn't been a survival guide for old christian men with beliefs of the world's destruction on the May 21,2011. That is very inconvenient because its on a Saturday. That is one of the best days of the week. I haven't heard any apocalypse prediction that falls on a Monday.

So What! You Tried Your Best. (That's What Everyone Else is Saying Too!)

So, I have returned to the B.Yourself blog with a post, and I was hoping to return with some good news. However, this month I've found out that I didn't get approved for the the proposals, Art on the Beltline and Elevate Art Above The Underground. This was a good shot of being chosen to participate for something special based off merit and talent; not just a financial deposit. So with that said, I have to move on to my next art project which is... I don't know yet.

Of course, Disappointment is always there when you do not get selected for something. It's human nature. So what do you do? You shrug your shoulders and say to yourself, "So what, you tried your best!" I must be honest. That doesn't make me feel any better. Maybe if I wrote my proposal on a napkin with ketchup then I can feel a little better. By doing this I can have a reason on why I didn't get approval.

Furthermore, this post was to vent and to get over it. I am going back to the drawing board and I'll try it again for next year. Here's another cliche' phrase. "Maybe next year".

Much to Blog about Nothing... Part 2

I've been busy lately. However, that doesn't excuse the fact of neglecting my blog. It is always good to take a break from art and soak up some inspiration. As for right now, I am working on new illustrations and commissions. Will be back soon.
